About The Business

The business originated during a tour through Mongolia in August 2009. We came into contact with local people who were making felt footwear products. Soon the idea arose to import these items to the Netherlands in order to contribute to better living conditions for the Mongolian population. In May 2010 the business was officially founded. the business works with several small Fair Trade organizations.

We do this according to the principles of Fair Trade: financing in advance, paying a fair price for the product: a price that is in proportion to the production costs and not one that is determined by the international market conditions. Because the local Mongolian products find their way to the export market, employment and income are created, which can increase the prosperity of the people themselves, their families and even that of others in their village.

The business and the Mongolian producers have an agreed fair price that stimulates them in entrepreneurship. Now that the business has been taking care of sales in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany for a number of years, we notice that the people who work for producers are now doing better. They now receive a stable income and employment is expanding.

The business is therefore a designer, importer, distributor and direct sales channel for these partners. At the moment the business is managed by the founder in collaboration with a logistics service provider, IT suppliers and freelance expertise and smart use of various online tools.

The founder/owner spend 10-20 hours a week on customer service, marketing, contact with the various partners and general business operations. The logistics are outsourced to logistics service provider. This provider is a reliable fulfillment partner, who cares for the products and cares for the customer. We are very satisfied with this cooperation. All stock is present there and from there the packages are also sent and returns received and processed.

Apart from the stock, no special resources or facilities are required on location. Because the products are handmade and unique, there are no large stocks at the suppliers. 1 large order is placed per winter/summer season and the aim is to be able to serve the season. Sometimes a repeat order is placed mid -season. Due to the nature of the product, the stock is ordered at the beginning of the season and due to the fair trade rules, the makers are partly paid on order and the rest on delivery.
