Growth Opportunities

Selling on TikTok Shop is the greatest opportunity for this business. The market for this product is wide open on tiktok shop with very limited competition. Executing a successful strategy on TikTok shop for this product would result in you potentially being the #1 ice block mold seller on that marketplace, or at least one of the top seller. Understand Amazon PPC and consistently monitoring / tweaking the ads is key as well. We made sales with only one hour a week (not really knowing what we were doing either). If you commit to mastering the ecommerce game this has a lot of potential. There's lot of demand for this product. The cold plunge industry is consistently growing and attracts motived buyers with disposable income. Our branding is on point as well. We invested a lot into professional content Another opportunity is creating engaging content on social media to generate organic traffic.

Business Risks

The biggest risk that we struggled with was our lack of understanding of Amazon FBA. If you're comfortable with Amazon FBA and PPC you'll do great. If it's new to you it might be difficult. We made $28,326 in sales in a single year without knowing what we were doing, and only putting in an hour a week. That's 835 units sold. The problem is that we weren't too profitable due to high ad costs. We didn't monitor or tweak ads consistently which is our fault. Also we had no "top of funnel" sales meaning we didn't have any organic traffic from social media. This meant that the whole business relied on ads without much organic traffic. If you're confident in running an ecommerce business profitably then this will work. We had no experience so managing ads profitably was hard for us. We pretty much broke. The product costs $10.21 landed included product, packaging, and shipping. Our avg price each unit sold at was $33.92. There's margin there but with amazon ppc fees it was tough for us to manage.

Work & Skills Required

Most important thing is understanding how to rank organically on amazon. Ranking organically means less reliance on ads to generate sales. We didn't know how to rank on amazon therefor needed to rely solely on ads. Marketing and PPC is important to know as well. Plus highly recommend doing this on tiktok shop and understanding that game. (not necessary but highly recommended - this would crush on there) Understanding profitability levers is key. Landed unit cost is $10.21. Retail price we sold for on average was $34.34. If you're confident you can be profitable with those margins, awesome. Keep in mind you can sell for $35 or $39 even if you market this as a premium choice (which it is). Inventory, manufacturing, and reordering are all pretty ease at this scale.
